Steve Weil
Chief Executive Officer
Rabbi Steven Weil was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces in 2020. He began his career as a pulpit Rabbi, first serving at the Young Israel of Oak Park in Detroit, Michigan, and then at Congregation Beth Jacob in Beverly Hills, California. In 2009, he assumed the position of Senior Managing Director of the Orthodox Union, leading their institutional advancement and community engagement efforts.
With his lifelong devotion to the State of Israel, Rabbi Weil has been an ardent proponent of Jewish education and the future of the Jewish people. He has channeled his talents to support Israel and her heroic guardians, the men and women of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). One of his daughters is currently serving as an IDF Lone Soldier.
Rabbi Weil attended Yeshiva University, where he concurrently completed his ordination at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (REITS), and earned a Master’s in Business Administration from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Currently residing in New Jersey with his wife, Rabbi Weil takes pride in being a father and grandfather.
